This eight days tour will take you through some of the most culturally and historically important monuments of Thimphu, Paro and Punakha and Phobjikha. Western Bhutan is considered as the more developed parts of the country. You can visit the main seat of government at the Tashichhodzong in Thimphu, the city which is also home to the Royal Family, and civil servants and enjoy the wide green valley of Paro and the little hamlets around it; also where the famous hike to the Tigers’ nest is located.
Punakha is home to the beautiful Punakha Dzong which serves as the winter residence for the central monastic body and its leader, the Je Khenpo. Also get adventurous and participate in a white water rafting excursion in this district.
This tour will give you a good insight into the western part of Bhutan, all whilst giving opportunities to appreciate the unparalleled beauty unique to each district.
Day1: Arrive in Paro and transfer to Thimphu, with stop over at Tachog monastery, visit Tashi
Chhodzong and Takin Zoo.
Day2: Thimphu, visit memorial chorten, Buddha Dodhenma, Bhutan Postal museum, craft market and centennial market.
Day3: Thimphu- Punakha, drive to Punakha with stopover at Dochula pass, visit Punakha dzong, Kamsum Yulley Namgyel chorten and Suspension bridge.
Day4: Punakha – Phobjikha, visit Chhimi Lhakhang and drive to Phobjikha.
Day5: Phobjikha- Paro, visit crane center with short trek around beautiful Phobjikha valley.
Day6: Paro, visit Chelela pass, Drukgyel dzong and Kichu monastery.
Day7: Hike to Taktshang.
Day8: Depart to onward destination
